Here's what you have had to say so far:

hello fellow pie's , i was extatic when i stumbled across this, the pie club. i have always been intrested in cooking and baking pies so to find this means so much. as it is coming up christmas i have baking lots of mince pies for all the children in the school were i work. we recently had a school production where i made and sold the most delicious hot chocolate with marshmellows and whipped cream, with this i gave away one of my free mince pies, the children all laughed and cheered and comments were passed that they were the best they had ever had. i would really like it if you could send me some mince pie recipes so i can make gorgeous mince pies for EVERYONEE! my email adress is munterspies_2@hotmail.co.uk thanks. x

Good to see you are still on with this VERY important task Pete! ATB Rage

We're all about the mince pies, RC, not the pork pies.

I ain't Jewish, I just don't dig on swine, that's all.

Carry on.

Bolton Wanderers said farewell to Burnden Park at the end of the 1997/1998 Season. The pie shop across from the ground on Manchester Road was legendary and more than a few tales of the squad sending out for a pie order after a morning's training were rumoured. Only three weeks ago, towards the end of November, on a visit to Bolton, I made my first visit to the shop and sampled a meat and potato. It was truly excellent and great value at 80p. I wonder how many the shop sells these days since the Whites left Burnden? Oh yes, Bolton were relegated the season after leaving Burnden. Do you think it could have anything to do with the change in diet? My vote for the best pork pie has got to be Fraser's Butchers on the corner of Green Lane and Rishton Lane in Bolton.

A nice young man has asked for our help finding any companies that still make spiced meat mince pies - the forerunner to today's fruity variety.

Any ideas?
I'd guess we'll struggle to source those until someone can develop an affordable time machine. Not like the expensive versions of the future.

I shall be contacting the Observer at my earliest convenience.

They have delivered a verdict that is in danger of ruining Christmas for every smug person in the South East.

And really, I'd prefer to do that.

Heres a tip, having seen the violent cleave from an Iceland mince pie during that jungle thing the other week, I should wear full PPE if you review it. Honestly, when it breaks in 2 you will visibly flinch. I was fully expecting shrapnel wounds through my 32 inch bravia. It appears to have the potential energy of the san andreas fault coupled with the temperament of Kevin Keegan. Keep well away......

Check out Tesco Finest pies! Excellent warm with cream

Best second opinion ever, Brighty.
Massive bones to pick with M & S this time out. The Chesterfield branch haven’t had any Luxury versions whenever I’ve risked a trip to the crooked spire capital of Western Europe.
Plus, they had the audacity to have Connoisseur pies on sale with a best before date of the day after. Sickening stuff.

Rest assured, I shall not let the matter rest.

Hello Pie lovers, Just wanted to let you know about a great new history of Pie's - Janet Clarkson's 'Pie: A Global History'; 'an all-encompassing look at the world of pies in all their glorious pastry history. With lesser-known facts, period photos and recipes, this book is far from just a history lesson on the origin of pies.' – British Baker magazine If you think it would make a good stocking filler then Reaktion Books (the publisher), are offering 20% off at our website: http://www.reaktionbooks.co.uk/book.html?id=354 . Just put in the code ED0106 when you proceed to the checkout to claim the discount. Cheers! Ian

Believe me, all, you would not want to suffer the kind of stuttering gibberish my mind has been reduced to delivering in these sleep-deprived times.

Given the broken upper thresholds of quality in these parts, I’d like to think that any ribbing of JC must be no more than a friendly poke in the ribs.

The internet could never be a place of argument or discord, surely?

I have to agree with MissMincePie 21 out of 25 is a very generous score considering its uncanny resemblance to a Fray bentos, I think JC you might be blinded by love.

Missmincepie - it's been nigh on 15 years since I last had the pleasure of a pork pie, so you'll have to forgive me if giddiness got the better of me. In future, though, I'll be sure to allot extra points to pies that turn up wrapped in tinsel and rocking silver crowns.
So says JC of Pie Club on 23rd Nov 2009, 8:19PM.
Thanks very much, MMPG! Stick with us, though - we all miss PC and his tangential way around a pie (not least me and my alimentary canal), but he's sure to be knocking about in some capacity or other before this year's Pie Offs, and he may even be coaxed out of (premature) retirement in time for next season. No lobbying, though, eh?
So says JC of Pie Club on 23rd Nov 2009, 8:12PM.
I come to this website because your reviews are normally pant spiltingly hilarious however now that JC has taken over I'm sad to say Im losing interest rapidly, poor show JC bring the Old pie man back.
So says MiniMincePieGirl of Oxford on 23rd Nov 2009, 4:45PM.
How can you give a pork pie looking mince pie 21 out of 25 on appearance! I totally disagree infact it is laughable! Surely a mince pie should look festive????
